Women finish sixth, men place 10th at NSIC Indoor Championships

Young places third in 600m to earn All-NSIC honors

MANKATO, Minn. – The Concordia-St. Paul track and field teams wrapped up the final day of the NSIC Indoor Championships with the women finishing in sixth place and the men finishing in 10th.
 
The women's team recorded 10 points on the final day of the NSIC Indoor Championships giving them 45.66 total points which was good for sixth place. Erica Young earned All-NSIC honors in the 600m run while Wakpor Ighovojah and Kalle Burney received All-NSIC accolades in the Pentathlon.
 
Erica Young gave the team six points with her third place finish in the 600m run with a time of 1:36.75 which was nearly three quarters of a second better than her preliminary time on Friday. Young also finished in sixth in the pentathlon with 3378 points which earned three team points
 
The 4x400 relay team of Erica Shady, Erica Young, Leah Amundson, and Kalle Burney finished six and earned three points with a time of 3:59.37.
 
Hannah Gustafson placed eighth in the shot put with a throw of 42'8.75" which also earned another team point.
 
Kalle Burney finished 15th overall in the individual rankings earning combined 11.75 total points in the pentathlon, high jump and 1600 relay.
 
The men were only able to add nine team points on day two of the Indoor championship for a grand total of 21 points, dropping them from seventh to 10th place in the final standings.
 
Benjamin Allen earned four points with his fifth place finish in the 800m run with a time of 1:56.41. Allen finished .31 seconds behind fourth place and 1.17 seconds behind third place.
 
Caleb Troe gave the men's team two more points with his seventh place finish in the 5000m run with a final time of 15:10.18.
 
Marcus Gustaveson continued to impress in the shot put as he threw for a distance of 47'9" which was good sixth place and three team points.
