KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Over the holiday break, Concordia-St. Paul junior defensive end Chris Garrett was named to the 2019 D2Football.com All-America First Team.

It is Garrett's fourth All-America honor for his standout junior campaign and the third time he's earned All-America First Team honors (D2FB, D2CCA, AP) while also picking up one All-America Second Team recognition (AFCA).

Garrett is Concordia's third-ever D2Football.com All-America First Team selection, joining Zach Moore following his junior season in 2012 and Tom Obarski following his 2014 senior year. Garrett also becomes the third Golden Bear to earn recognition from D2Football.com's All-America Team twice in a career, joining Tyler Hendrickson who was a two-time Second Team selection in 2010 and 2011 and Zach Moore who earned Second Team honors following his 2013 senior year. Garrett was a D2Football.com All-America Honorable Mention selection last season as a sophomore. Concordia now has 11 D2Football.com All-Americans since 2005, with the award beginning with the organization's founding in 2000.

He is one of just two players and the only defensive player from the Northern Sun (NSIC) named to the First Team, joined by Minnesota State offensive lineman Evan Heim.

The D2Football.com All-America Team was selected by the staff of D2Football.com with input from coaches and sports information directors from around the country. The league had five players earn Second Team honors and one more earn an Honorable Mention nod.
