Soccer announces seven incoming freshman for 2026 season

Golden Bears add seven after graduating 10 in 2025

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Concordia-St. Paul women's soccer head coach Steve Bellis has announced seven incoming freshmen for the 2026 season on National Signing Day 2026.

The 2026 signing class includes Jeanette Bermudez (Corcoran, Minn. / Buffalo HS), Lauren Burk (Indianola, Iowa / Indianola HS), Taylor Hendrickson (Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake HS), Sadie Mittelstaedt (Muskego, Wis. / Muskego HS), Mataya Smith (Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake HS), Madeleine Thompson (White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake Area HS) and Samantha Wacker (Slinger, Wis. / Slinger HS). 

Bellis on the 2026 class: "The 2026 class represents the hard work and dedication our staff has put in over the last few years. We have been able to focus very much on our positional needs and feel we have achieved those goals with this group." 

Bellis added, "We have formed some strong relationships with both the high school and club staff that have helped develop these wonderful student-athletes to this point. It's our job to now push them to the next level and set expectations for their collegiate progress to help our program continue its growth. We welcome these players into our CSP soccer family with excitement and open arms."


Jeanette Bermudez (D, 5-4, Fr., Corcoran, Minn. / Buffalo HS / Boreal SC)
Buffalo High School:
A letter-winner for the Bison … tallied four goals and four assists in her senior campaign … helped guide her team to a 12-2-5 record … participated in track, chamber orchestra, National Honor Society and Tri-M. 

Personal: Plans to major in education at CSP .. has two younger sisters and a younger brother.

Bellis on Bermudez: "A very technical player and she can operate in a few key positions for us. Her work rate and energy level will help her transition into college soccer. We are excited to add her to the program. "


Lauren Burk (M, 5-8, Fr., Indianola, Iowa / Indianola HS / Sporting Iowa ECNL)
Indianola High School: A three-year starter for the Indians … notched three-letters while seeing action in 48 games … tallied 16 goals and 15 assists … two-time All-Conference First-Team member … two-time All-Academic mention … Named to the Class 2A All-District Team and the State All-Tournament Team … voted the Most Valuable Player by her team … helped lead her team to a state appearance as a junior. 

Personal: Plans to major in Business at CSP … has two older sisters and an older brother. 

Bellis on Burk: "A product of the Sporting Iowa ECNL program with a real pedigree and wonderful character. She will quickly add to our attacking options at CSP. "


Taylor Hendrickson (D., 5-4, Fr., Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake HS / Prior Lake SC)
Prior Lake High School: Two-time All-Conference Honorable Mention for the Lakers … as a junior was named the Defensive Player of the Year … named Team Captain as a senior … collected an All-State Nomination … helped guide her team to a Section Championship and an All-Team Gold Award … also participated in Link Crew, Laker Leaders, Super Fan and Morgan's Message. 

Personal: Plans to major in nursing at CSP … has one older brother. 

Bellis on Hendrickson: "Hendrickson is an exciting defender who wins 1v1 battles, has great speed,and is tenacious. She will be a welcome addition to the backline."


Sadie Mittelstaedt (M, 5-10, Fr., Muskego, Wis. / Muskego HS / Wave SC GA)
Muskego High School: A four-time WIAA D1 State Champion with the Warriors … four-time Scholar Athlete … helped lead her team to a Classic 8 Conference Championship and four straight State titles. 

Personal: Plans to major in Pre-PA … has a twin sister who will be playing soccer at Depaul University in the fall and an older sister who plays soccer at Minnesota State. 

Bellis on Mittelstaedt: "Sadie will be a strong addition to our midfield pool. She loves to compete, wins the aerial duals and 50/50's for fun! A great character to get on campus at CSP. " 


Mataya Smith (D, 5-7, Fr., Prior Lake, Minn. / Prior Lake HS / Prior Lake SC
Prior Lake High School: A varsity soccer player for the Lakers … helped lead her team to a 2025 Sectional Championship and a trip to the State Tournament with a 13-5-1 record … also participated in National Honor Society and Superfans. 

Personal: Plans to major in biology at CSP … her mom played volleyball and her dad played football at St. Cloud State … has one older brother who plays baseball here at CSP. 

Bellis on Smith: "Mataya will add some steel to the backline. She can pick out a pass and also join the attack with pace. We look forward to seeing her on the pitch next fall."


Madeleine Thompson (D, 5-7, Fr., White Bear Lake, Minn. / White Bear Lake Area HS / Mantou SC)
White Bear Lake Area High School: A four-year varsity letter winner for the Bears … named All-Conference as a junior and All-Conference Honorable Mention as a sophomore … accumulated eight goals and three assists as a senior … helped lead her team to a Conference and Sectional Championship … team made it to the State Tournament in her sophomore season … also participated in basketball where she was a four-year letter winner … helped guide her basketball team to two Section Championships and two State Tournament appearances … was named the Captain of both the soccer and basketball teams as a senior. 

Personal: Plans to major in accounting at CSP … her uncle Bill played football at Carthage College and cousin Mia currently plays volleyball at Western Alabama … has one older sister. 

Bellis on Thompson: "Thompson brings a ton of athletic ability to our backline. She reads the game well and will be tough to beat. We are pumped to get her on board." 


Samantha Wacker (M, 5-8, Fr., Slinger, Wis. / Slinger HS / North Shore GA)
Slinger High School: Two-year varsity member for the Owls before shifting to club soccer … in her sophomore year was named All-Conference Second-Team … two-time letter winner … also participated in DECA, SOWL, REP, FCA and National Honor Society. 

Personal: Plans to major in business … has two sisters. 

Bellis on Wacker: "Sam is a midfielder who is comfortable on the ball, gritty when needed and will cover the ground for us at CSP. She's a great student athlete who will make an impact on our program."
