Pavek named CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team

Pavek's on and off field performance earns her Academic All-American honors

USTIN, Texas – Coming off their best season in program history, Concordia St. Paul soccer team has more to be proud of as one of their own, senior defender Hannah Pavek has been named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-American Second Team. 
 
Back in November Hannah Pavek and Haleigh Bares have been selected to the 2019 Academic All-District Women's Soccer Team selected by CoSIDA for their performance on the soccer field and in the classroom. These two were the first CSP selections since 2015 when Rachel Gratz received this honor for the Golden Bears. Pavek is the first player to be named Academic All-American Second Team since Lindsay Hartleben received the same honor back in 2005.
 
The 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The individuals selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. 
 
Hannah Pavek had a career year on and off the field for the Golden Bears as she was named to the CoSIDA All Region Team and also was a member of the NSIC All-Academic Team of excellence for the second year in a row and the third year being named to the NSIC All-Academic Team. On the field she was selected to NSIC First Team All-Conference, she was named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on October seventh. She tied a career high in goals (2), recorded a career high in assists (5), and also recorded a career high in points (9) and shots (21). Pavek also played a career high 1,902 minutes and was part of an historic back line that led the way with a program record 15 shutouts, a program record low .63 goals against average and allowed only 8.6 shots per game and 15 goals in 23 games played this season. She also scored the first goal in Golden Bear NCAA Tournament history in the 5th minute of play of the first-round game against Northeastern State University. 
 
There were five total honorees from the NSIC Concordia's Hannah Pavek. Wayne State led the way with three, Rachel Grisham, Madison Burgard and Sophia Ketchmark were all named to the second team along with Pavek. Minnesota State's Jenny Vetter was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-American First Team. 
 
Senior midfielder Charléne Nowotny of Flagler College and senior defender Jason Zobott of Colorado School of Mines headline the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division II Women's and Men's Soccer teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
 
The Division II and III CoSIDA Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2019-20 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
