Dennis graduated Concordia College in 1981 and would complete his service at Concordia Seminary in 1993. He is now a senior pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bakersfield, Calif. after spending time in his professional career as a home and building designer for his own business. In his athletic career for the Comets, Dennis was an All-Conference performer in baseball and helped lead the Comets to a 1979 National Small College World Series 3rd place finish. A pitcher, his career was highlight by a sophomore campaign in which he compiled a 7-1 record on the mound with a 0.83 earned run average through his first four complete games. He earned the Concordia Comet Award for earning a letter in three different sports in his career as a student-athlete. He now resides in Bakersfield with his wife, Judy of 24 years. They have three sons, Colby (23), Christopher (21) and Chandler (14). He is a 1977 graduate of Valley
High School in Des Moines, Iowa.
