A hometown St. Paul native and Cretin-Derham Hall graduate, Amanda Yurek was a force at the plate and defensively at the hot corner for a three-time NSIC Champion softball program.

She was a catalyst of a program that reached three consecutive NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearances, playing in the NCAA Central Region Championship three years in a row including one regional title and a trip to the 2005 NCAA Division II Softball Championship Tournament where the club finished as an Elite Eight member.

Across her four year career, she helped the squad to a 157-83 overall record (43-19 NSIC) and the program’s only 40-plus win seasons in school history in 2004, 2005 and 2006 while amassing career .331/.394/.506 batting line (229-692) with 51 doubles, 20 home runs, 128 runs and 120 RBIs.

She was the 2006 NSIC Player of the Year and league home run champion with an overall batting line of .412/.456/.674 (77-187) with 20 doubles, nine home runs, 38 runs and 38 RBIs while swiping five bases and committing just eight errors across 60 games at arguably the most challenging defensive position in the sport.

Her career includes a pair of All-Central Region selections in 2006 and 2007 and she was a three-time All-NSIC First Team selection while making the NSIC All-Tournament Team twice.

She holds Concordia career records in games played and started (232-231) and doubles (51) and is third in career total bases (350) while her 20 home runs are fifth most in program history. Her 20 doubles as a junior in 2006 is a record that still stands in 2019.

She completed her criminal justice degree in 2007 and has had a successful career in law enforcement in the community. The longtime St. Paul resident now resides in Anoka County with her wife, Lauren and their son, Mason. She is also a foster mother to three foster daughters, as well.

She is currently a Sheriff Deputy in Anoka County, is a field training officer, peer support worker for all Anoka County employees and part of the mobile force team and special response team. She has also worked in law enforcement for Hennepin County Juvenile Correctional Facility where she held the distinction of being one of two female Use of Force Instructors for Hennepin County.

Her involvement and passion for softball still remains, continuing to serve CSP as an assistant softball coach.
