ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia Golden Bears track and field teams completed their second of three competitions at the home track on Wednesday night at the Bear Cat Twlight, co-hosted by St. Thomas. CSP wrapped up 26 top-10 finishes, including nine in the top-5.
The men's side collected 14 finishes in the top-10 and three in the top-5 while the women grabbed 12 in the top-10 and six in the top-5 for a fairly even split.
One of those top-5 results on the men's side came from
Caleb Troe in the 5000m. Troe chopped off almost nine seconds from his own school record as he claimed fifth with a time of 15:08.57.
Fellow distance runner
Benjamin Allen gave the men their best finish of the day as he took home third in the 800 meter run. His time of 1:54.94 was just over five seconds behind the leader of the event.
Marcus Gustaveson provided the top finish in the field events as he grabbed fourth in the shot put. His mark of 46'8.00" was the best of his young career. He also took ninth in the discus as well.
Highlighting the women's side was a pair of athletes finishing third in their respective events.
Erika Shady came within 0.10 seconds of taking the top spot in the 100 meter finals as she registered in with a time of 12.66. That results was matched by
Hannah Gustafson in the shot put, who cleared 42'2.75" in the event.
Teghan Norman (400m hurdles),
Anna Ripke (discus throw) and
Gretchen Feilen (high jump) followed close behind with fourth place results while
Marianna Kramer (pole vault) took fifth to round out the top-5 results on the day.
The team will be back on their home track in nine days for the NSIC Championships. Action is set to take place on Friday, May 12
th and Saturday, May 13
th at Sea Foam Stadium.
