ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Concordia Golden Bears men's and women's track and field teams' day at the UST Invite on the campus of University of St. Thomas which included three first place finishes on the women's side and one on the men's side.
Gloria Williams, Gretchen Feilen and Antony Odera placed first in their respective events to as Williams placed first in the 60 meter run and 200 meter run and Odera placed first in the triple jump.
Williams edged Kelsey Worachek of Wisconsin-Eau Claire by 0.05 seconds for the win for time of 7.82.
Erika Shady placed fourth in same event with a time of 7.93.
Odera beat Wisconsin-Stout's Cody Baumbach in by nearly a foot in the triple jump with a distance of 44'2".
Gretchen Feilen and
Marianna Kramer dominated in the pole vault placing first and second, respectively. Feilen cleared a height of 12'0.5" while Kramer cleared a height of 11'6.50".
Benjamin Allen and
Caleb Troe both broke school records in their respective events. Allen broke the mile record with a time of 4:22.11 while placing fourth. The previous record was 4:24.51 set by Allen earlier this year. Troe set the school record in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:20.96 also breaking the record he previously set earlier this year of 15:28.46.
Others who placed in the top-5 at the meet were
Peyton Holmes and
Cole Oslin the 3000 meter run finishing third and fourth, respectively with times of 9:02.14 and 9:02.66, respectively.
Jordan Gray placed third in the 1000 meter run with a time of 3:07.88 finishing five seconds behind second place.
Hannah Gustafson rounded out the top-5 finishers in the shot put with a throw of 42'8.25" which placed third in the event
The team is back in action on Sunday, Feb. 12 as the multi-athletes compete in the NSIC Multi-Event Championships in Mankato.
