Mohr and Lewis named AVCA All-America

Sampson earns honorable mention

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) released the 36th annual AVCA Division II All-America teams and Concordia-St. Paul had two named to the All-America with another earning honorable mention. Junior setter Elizabeth Mohr was named First Team, Brooklyn Lewis was named Second Team, and Mariya Sampson was named honorable mention.
 
Exactly 13 of the athletes honored on the AVCA All-America teams in 2017 have received the award multiple times.  Headlining this year's selections are a trio of three-time All-Americans: California Baptist's Lauren Hackett, Tarleton State's Hailey Roberts, and Lewis' Aly Schneider.
 
The 2017 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division II All-America Committee: Flip Piontek, Central Missouri, chairperson; Laurie Lokash, Slippery Rock; Kristy Bayer, Arkansas Tech; John Titus, Caldwell; Wick Colchagoff, Findlay; Sam Cibrone, Saint Leo; Chuck Waddington, Angelo State; Heather Vahjen, Erskine; Chris Green, Alaska Anchorage.


#13 Elizabeth Mohr (S, 5-7, Jr., Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie HS)

  • Leads the nation with 13.10 assists per set
  • Ranks second with 1651 total assists
  • Her 13.10 assists per set are 10th-most in single-season CSP history
  • Her 0.31 career aces per set rank 10th at Concordia
  • Ranks fifth in program history with 1809 career assists
  • Has collected eight double-doubles
  • Has surpassed 50 assists in 16 matches, including three with 60+  


#3 Brooklyn Lewis (OH, 5-10, Jr., Kasson, Minn. / Kasson-Mantorville HS)

  • On pace to become just the seventh player in program history to average 4.00 kills per set for a full season
  • Has had double-digit kills in 28 of 34 matches, including five matches with 20+ kills  


#8 Mariya Sampson (OH, 6-0, Sr., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Champlin Park HS)
  • AVCA All-America honorable mention

  • Second on the team with a career-best 3.16 kills per set
  • Hitting .265 on the season and .264 in her career
  • Sits just three kills shy of 1,000 with 997 heading into this weekend
  • Ranks 16th in program history with 3.33 career points per set
  • Also ranks in the top-20 in kills per set, attack percentage, kills, total blocks, and points
  • Has had double figures in kills in 23 matches on the year, including five with 15+
