Women’s Basketball announces two signings for 2018-19 season

The Golden Bears add Meghan DuBois and Sydney Zgutowicz to their 2018-19 roster

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Concordia-St. Paul head women's basketball coach Amanda Johnson has announced the signing of Meghan DuBois and Sydney Zgutowicz for the 2018-19 season.
 
MEGHAN DUBOIS (G, 5-7, Fr., Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Park Center HS)
Park Center High School: Lettered four times in basketball and six times in soccer for the Pirates … was named All-NWSC Honorable Mention in basketball … helped her team to four section championships, two state championships, and one state consolation championship … member of the National Honor Society, Senior Class Cabinet, and Link Crew.
 
Personal: Plans to major in Biology at Concordia and aspires to go to medical school … her mother played basketball at Winona State and her sister plays at St. Thomas.
 
Johnson on DuBois: "We are very excited to have Meghan joining our basketball program next year. She is a hard working defensive specialist who takes pride in her ability to lock down players on defense.  We will want to use her to defend other the team's best players and know she will be up for any challenge thrown her way. Also coming from a very competitive high school basketball program, she will be ready to play at the next level."
 
 
SYDNEY ZGUTOWICZ (F, 5-11, Fr., East Bethel, Minn. / St. Francis HS)
St. Francis High School: Lettered four times in basketball and soccer for the Fighting Saints … awarded two All-Conference honors in basketball and two All-Conference Honorable Mention honors in soccer within the Mississippi 8 conference … was voted MVP during her sophomore and junior seasons … has 1,095 total points heading into her senior season … averages 14.5 points and 9.3 rebounds per game and shoots 49% from the field… has tallied 96 assists, 45 steals, and 18 blocks in her career thus far … volunteers with the St. Francis Community for Drug Awareness (SFCDA) program and helps at the For Jake's Sake Foundation.
 
Personal: Plans on majoring in Education at Concordia … has a sister who plays for the CSP soccer team.
 
Johnson on Zgutowicz: "Sydney will be a great addition to our team; she will bring a great rebounding presence that we will need to replace after our leading rebounder Kyrah Fredenburg graduates. Sydney averaged over nine rebounds a game as a junior, and I am looking forward to watching her play in her senior year at St. Francis. We are definitely getting a hardworking, physical player out of Sydney."
