LEXINGTON, Ky. – After picking up a pair of impressive wins on their home court over the weekend, Concordia-St. Paul moved up to #2 in the week eight AVCA Division II Coaches Poll, released by the American Volleyball Coaches Association on Monday.

The Golden Bears leapfrogged last week's top-ranked team, the Lewis Flyers, after Lewis dropped a match to unranked Bellarmine over the weekend. The Flyers dropped to sixth in the poll while NSIC foe Southwest Minnesota State moved into the top spot. Concordia grabbed two of 48 first-place votes as they were one of six teams to receive a vote. Along with CSP and SMSU, Minnesota Duluth ranks fourth, Northern State ranks ninth, Augustana ranks 15th, Winona State ranks 17th and Wayne State ranks 20th to give the NSIC seven schools inside the top-20.

Concordia has spent all but one week inside the top-5 since October 2012. The last time that CSP ranked outside the top-10 was back in 2003.

The shift in the poll also sets up a massive meeting this Saturday as the #2 Golden Bears travel to Marshall to take on the #1 Mustangs in a battle of the top two teams in the land. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. The two teams met as the top two ranked teams earlier this season with then-#1 Concordia falling to then-#2 Southwest Minnesota State in four sets in the championship match in the Colorado Premier Challenge.
